Kailee Abendroth (she/they) 11th Grade, Chief Editor

Hi, I'm Kailee! I was born in Everett but lived abroad in Germany while my father was in the army. I've been a gymnast for thirteen years and have been a part of the Mariner varsity swim team since my freshman year. I enjoy listening to all different kinds of music, riding quads, astrology, learning about different cultures, and hanging out with friends in my free time.

What I hope to accomplish in journalism is to broaden my writing and strengthen my editing skills. In addition, I hope to amplify the unheard in our school.

The Compass is an important part of our school because it brings a whole new sense of community by allowing others to be recognized.

Journalism is an important skill to have as it differs from the typical writing that you would do in your English classes. Being able to go out to interview, research, and write captivating articles is something that will greatly benefit you throughout your life.
