Raquel Hart Renander (she/her), Section Editor (Mariner News)

The art spotlight this week is made by Anna Hoang! She is a freshman in Mariner and she has been drawing for about five years. This piece, inspired by a popular character named Childe (aka Tartaglia) in the game Genshin Impact which is an open-world type adventure and action game, took about one hour to make, she used a tablet and Apple pen to create it.

Most of her drawings are inspired by the manga “Blue Period,” created in August 2017, written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. The manga art style originated in Japan and is most commonly used in comic books or graphic novels, it started to develop more in the late 19th century.

“I started to drawing for fun, then I started doing commissions but stopped because that was too much drawing for me,” Hoang says. She continues to draw amazing art inspired by famous characters and even people!
