The Homecoming football game against Mt.Vernon is set to take place on October 11th at 7:00 PM. The game will be a hard one to predict, seeing how both teams seem to be equally matched. Mt. Vernon barely beat Cascade, 48-47, but then lost to Lake Stevens 77-0. Mariner destroyed Kamiak 51-6 but followed that up with a loss to Monroe 49-7.

Since the loss, Mariner Head Football Coach Mark Stewart claims the team is “good they work hard every day.” Junior Sebastian Wanjiru sees some issues in the blow out losses, though. He sees his teammates, “giving up and quitting throughout the game.”

The football team has the talent if they can put together a full game plan as they did in the game against Kamiak, Mt.Vernon may need to be worried. The Mariner football team can show that spirit again and pull through in their Homecoming game against Mt.Vernon. Coach Stewart believes “the team is filled with unsung heroes who work hard every day.”
